Strategically located in Australia's North West Port Hedland International Airport (PHIA) is the only International Airport in the Pilbara and provides a direct link to the world's largest iron ore export port and holds a central, geographical advantage to most major oil and gas fields from the Exmouth Gulf to the Browse Basin. 

PHIA has an established heliport fixed base operation:

• positioned for the Dorado field with a sealed HHF apron and simultaneous parking/ground-handling for up to 8 helicopters.

Our direct services are Bali (Sat), Brisbane (Tue) and Perth (multiple daily flights). The Airport welcomes more than 400,000 passengers and hundreds of international aircraft movements (charters, medivacs, fuel stops and diversions) each year. 

PHIA is designated Australian first-point-of-entry with Border Force and biosecurity operations. The Airport is home to domestic and international freight operators, a certified international cargo terminal operator (CTO) and regularly handles the world’s largest aircraft such as the Antonov 124, oversize, time-critical freight movements for the resources sector. 

PHIA’s on-site supply chain resources include; refuelling, aviation rescue firefighting, charters and a passenger flight network connecting the Kimberley and Pilbara regions, transient worker accommodation and the Royal Flying Doctor Service.

Extensive acreage offers the only direct RAV-10 road-train access from the Great Northern Highway in Port Hedland, a bulky goods precinct and limitless development opportunities for supply chain and heavy transport infrastructure. Major airport redevelopment continues with major upgrades to airside pavements and infrastructure to improve safety, security, flexibility and capability. Completed projects include a second taxiway, an asphalt overlay of the runway and runway lighting upgrades. The transformation has moved landside with the commencement of underground and parking and ground transport works, in readiness for the redevelopment of a purpose-built passenger terminal that responds to the local environmental conditions with functionality improvements and the latest developments in terminal design.
